Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses® (ATCN®) Student Course

The ATCN® Course provides an integrated team approach to trauma care that is consistent with the standard of the ATLS® Program, in terms of course objectives, content, teaching format and assessment. The ATCN® Course, with its focus on practical and life-saving skills, was developed to teach established standards of trauma care. It is designed for nurses working in Emergency Departments, Intensive Care Units, and the pre-hospital setting, who wish to increase their knowledge and practical skills in managing the multiple trauma patients.

The ATCN® Student Course is an intensive two-day course, taught concurrently with the ATLS® Student Course for Doctors.

The Course includes didactic presentations on initial assessment, airway management, abdominal trauma, thoracic trauma, shock, head and spinal cord trauma, burns extremity, trauma, paediatric trauma, trauma in pregnancy, and stabilisation and transportation. Coupled with the lectures are corresponding practical skills stations and assessment stations where the application of didactic information can be demonstrated.
